WELCOME TO OWLTOPIA

Welcome to Owltopia! This year’s Jog-A-Thon is a little different. We’ve turned it into a six-week mystery called “The Mystery of the Golden Owl,” and the adventure starts now!

WHAT IS A JOG-A-THON

Jog-A-Thon is a schoolwide fundraiser that brings together movement, school spirit, teamwork, and community, culminating in an inclusive, untimed fun run on November 4. The money raised helps pay for things our kids actually experience throughout the year, like field trips, International Night, Spring Carnival, the Book Fair, school supplies, and so much more.

WELCOME TO OUR NEIGHBORHOODS

Now let’s get into the world of Owltopia! Every classroom has become its own Owltopia neighborhood, every teacher is the Mayor, and our students are the Junior Officers. Each neighborhood has its own name and personality, but together, they make up one big Owltopia.

BREAKING NEWS

There’s just one problem: Owltopia’s beloved Golden Owl has disappeared! What started as a Junior Officer Recruitment Training Assembly quickly turned into an emergency search effort, and now we need our Junior Officers to help us find the Golden Owl.

THE JUNIOR OFFICER OATH

To officially join the emergency search team, our Junior Officers have two things to do. First, they took the Junior Officer Oath at the assembly, promising to be kind, work as a team, show courage, never give up, and help make Owltopia the best community it can be. Next up is completing their registration at home with a parent or guardian.

YOUR INVESTIGATION KIT

Hopefully you’ve had a chance to look through the official Owltopia Investigation Kit your child brought home! Inside is their Top Secret Case File, personalized Junior Officer badge and lanyard, badge stickers and tracker, and their very own Owltopia sticker. Their Case File is where they can keep their clues, weekly missions, and everything else they collect as the investigation unfolds.

THREE WAYS TO EARN REWARDS

There are three different ways to earn rewards during Jog-A-Thon this year: individual fundraising rewards, classroom Achievement Flags based on participation, and schoolwide rewards earned by completing weekly missions and collecting Golden Feathers. This gives every student a way to participate in the fun and contribute to their class and our schoolwide goals, regardless of how much they personally fundraise.

INDIVIDUAL OFFICER REWARDS

As students fundraise, they’ll move up through the Junior Officer ranks and earn rewards along the way, starting at $35 with a Mixue soft-serve voucher and continuing with pizza, Owl Bucks to use at various school events, a free yearbook, and Golden Owl Society recognition. These rewards are cumulative through the $500 level, so students keep everything they’ve earned as they move up the ranks.

FAMILY REWARDS

For our highest fundraising levels, we switch over to family rewards, which means siblings’ fundraising totals can be combined! Starting at $1,000, families can earn rewards like reserved Alderwood Musical tickets, Holey Moley Mini Golf tickets, or even a family photo session. Families receive the reward associated with the highest level they reach, rather than all of the levels below it.

CLASS AND SCHOOLWIDE REWARDS

Our Junior Officers can also earn rewards together! Class Achievement Flags are based on classroom participation, while every completed weekly mission earns a Golden Feather toward schoolwide rewards. The more we participate, the more we unlock together, including Police Chief Cheshire and Assistant Chief Zakhar performing “Try Everything” live at lunch!

YOUR FIRST ASSIGNMENT

So, what do you actually need to do right now? Register! Scan the QR code inside your child’s Case File to get started with PledgeStar, create their fundraising page, and start sharing it with family and friends. Students who reach $35 during Weeks 1 and 2 will also be entered into our free yearbook drawings!

HOW TO REGISTER ON PLEDGESTAR

Registration is easy: scan the QR code, select “Not Registered for This Event,” create your parent or guardian account, and add your student’s name, grade, and classroom. If you have more than one child at Alderwood, you can add them all under the same parent account. Once that’s done, you’re ready to go!

A  FEW FINAL THINGS…

And that’s Owltopia in a nutshell! We know there’s a lot happening this year, but you do not need to remember all of this at once. We’ll guide you through it week by week as the mystery unfolds.

If you have questions along the way, check out the Jog-A-Thon FAQ page, where you’ll find additional information, including how to reach us if you still need help.

Thank you so much for supporting Jog-A-Thon, and most importantly, have fun with your Junior Officer! We can’t wait to see if our students can solve the Mystery of the Golden Owl!
