YOU and every parent, grandparent, guardian, teacher and staff member at Alderwood who chooses to join. We all have one thing in common: we are dedicated to providing an enriching, creative and fun experience for the students enrolled at Alderwood Elementary School.

What we do

We provide programs, training and materials for our students and teachers that government and school district funding can no longer support.

Why we do it

The goal of PTA, at the state and national level, is to promote the health, safety and welfare of every child both in and out of school. The PTA also speaks on behalf of children before government agencies and organizations that make decisions affecting children.

We are planning some fantastic programs for Alderwood Elementary School this year and would love your support! We provide items for our students and teachers that governmental and school district funding can no longer support and we enrich our children’s education through our programs.

2023-2024 Alderwood PTA Executive Board

MAHSHEED HOSSEINI

Since 2018, Mahsheed Hosseini has been a dedicated member of the Alderwood Community. She served as PTA President last year and will take on the role again in 2024. Mahsheed values this position deeply.

With her son Cyrus moving on to junior high and her younger son Darius in 4th grade, Mahsheed is committed to improving the school experience for all students. Despite being a full-time business owner and managing her household while her husband travels for work, Mahsheed prioritizes community service. Her dedication and passion motivate others to help create a positive and enriching environment for all students. She encourages everyone to join her in supporting future leaders through active involvement, academic support, and strong community ties.

Zoya Shybkouskaya

Zoya has been a member of the Alderwood community since 2023. She is a mother of two children, Leo, who is in the 1st grade, and Theo, who is three years old. In 2023, Zoya took an active role helping with a visual presentation of Yearbook, as well as volunteering at various school events and room classes. Together with her husband, she runs a production video and photo agency, filming and traveling to different cities for work. Zoya loves art, traveling with her family, spending time on production sets, and infusing a visual and creative touch into everything she does. Her commitment is to ensure that her children, and all school students, have valuable and memorable experiences during their time at school. This year, Zoya is delighted and honored to take on the special role of Vice President of the PTA.

SHIKHA BUBNA KATHURIA

Shikha Kathuria is a Mom to two daughters, Anika (4th grader) and Anya (2nd grader). Her family joined Alderwood Elementary in August 2022, after spending 16 years in Chicago. She grew up in Fremont, CA and is happy to be back in her home state! 

Shikha has eagerly immersed herself in the Alderwood community since moving here, serving as Room Parent Coordinator, Room Parent, and volunteering at various school events, classroom parties, etc. She is excited to serve as Recording Secretary this school year. 

Shikha is a Pediatric Dentist who has transitioned to full-time “Family Manager,” and enjoys being actively involved with Alderwood, her children, and their extracurricular activities. 

In her free time, she enjoys exercising, being outdoors with family and friends, and traveling.

SHOKO KADOWAKI

Shoko has been a part of the Alderwood community since 2019. She is a mother of two kids: Kimiko (6th grade) and Yunosuke (High School graduate in 2024). Her family moved to California from Japan 11 years ago. Shoko has volunteered in various PTA roles, and this is her first as a board member. In her free time, she enjoys sewing, crocheting, and looking for treasures at flea markets.

RACHEL GUAN

Rachel has been a valued member of the Alderwood community since 2022. With over a decade of experience in accounting, she serves as the treasurer for Alderwood Elementary School. Rachel brings a wealth of financial expertise and a strong commitment to supporting our school's financial health and transparency.

Outside of her professional role, Rachel is a dedicated parent to two boys—a first-grader and a lively toddler—who keep her active and engaged in our school community. Her passion for education and her background in accounting make her an invaluable asset to our PTA team.

ANIA PFEIL

Ania is a mom of a 5th grader (Maya) and 7th grader (Marcus). She has been involved with PTA, class volunteering and school activities for the last seven years. She grew up in Poland and moved to the United States some 23 years ago. Ania works full time for a commercial real estate investor headquartered in Irvine, CA, and specializes in acquisitions. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, traveling and spending time with family.

SARA ACOSTA

Sara has been part of the Alderwood community since 2017. She currently serves on the PTA Executive Board as both Historian and Membership Chair. Sara is a proud parent of Lucas (5th grade) and Lauren (7th grade). She has supported Alderwood in several roles including Room Parent, Classroom Volunteer, and School Site Council Member. For fun, she enjoys traveling with her family, and cheering on her kids at the track and soccer fields.

ELIZABETH REILLY

Elizabeth has been part of the Alderwood community since 2016. She is a mom to current student Julia (5th grade) and Alderwood graduate, Chloe (8th grade). Elizabeth works full-time for a nonprofit in the health-care industry. Even with a busy schedule, she has found many rewarding and flexible volunteer opportunities at Alderwood. She has assisted in various roles and is looking forward to serving as this year’s PTA Auditor. Outside of work and volunteer commitments, she enjoys spending time with family and traveling.

ESTEBAN VALENZUELA 

Esteban and his family joined the Alderwood community in 2022.  This will be his first year serving on the PTA Board, and he will be taking on the role of Parliamentarian.  He loves spending time with his family and enjoying their fun trips to Big Bear, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Wild Rivers.  He also has the privilege of coaching his son’s (Nico) soccer and baseball teams.  Nico will be starting 2nd grade in the fall, and his daughter (Mattie) will be starting TK in August 2025.  Esteban is honored to be part of the PTA Board and Alderwood community.
