Weekly Newsletter #34 - May 15, 2024
President's Corner

As we get closer to the end of the school year, we want to express gratitude to each and every one of you for your contributions to helping the PTA succeed. Our recent PTA executive board meeting, attended by both current members and those soon to join, was a significant step forward in serving students and the community.

However, the PTA still needs an Executive Vice President. If you would like to join the PTA and be part of our team, working together to support our students and community, we'd love to have you on board. Let's make a positive impact together!

  • Attention parents of 6th-grade students! We want to make sure you're ready for the upcoming promotion ceremony. To celebrate this special milestone, don't forget to buy yard signs and leis. Please complete your purchases by May 24th using this link: Order The Lei and Yard Sign Here!  Also, remember to schedule your photo shoot with Jennifer Ramos jen@image32photography.com  to capture these precious moments forever.

Volunteer Spotlight
Susan Pham

I love Alderwood and the community we have. Two of my kids (twins) attended K-6 at Alderwood, and one more is currently a fifth grader (Carter). I started coaching Run Club last year so that more students could join. I also lead run club at work, but it’s more fun with kids! I find it rewarding to see the kids striving to do their best, improving step by step, and having a good time. While running seems like an individual sport, we fostered a team spirit through our group activities and mutual encouragement. Fly, Owls, fly!

Kristine Sheu

I’m a mom of four boys. Our oldest is now living in Kansas, our second the president of PCMR Club at UNI and a track varsity runner, our third and fourth are Alderwood Owl runners. When I’m off mom duty, my day job is Senior Vice President, Deputy CIO for a regional bank in LA. Kind of a long title, but this means our dinner table is filled with “techie talk.”

We signed up for Run Club shortly after we were rising out of the pandemic to encourage our boys to be more active outdoors. Our running community is motivated by fun moms and dads who put in so much heart and hard work in getting our runners ready for their race. Monday afternoon practice are ones I look forward to because there’s always a fun activity waiting for the kids to do. This, of course, would not be possible without the leadership of Coach Katie. Though she is passing on the baton to Coach Richard next year (who is just as awesome!) she built an awesome running legacy at Alderwood. I hope our runners had a lot of fun this season. I look forward to contributing again next year and hope to see more runners join our club.
