Weekly Newsletter #5 - September 27 2023

President's Corner

We have some incredible news to share! Alderwood Elementary PTA is one of the select few, chosen among just 368 schools nationwide, to participate in the prestigious School of Excellence program.

This recognition is a testament to our school's commitment to excellence in education. It's an exciting journey that promises to enrich your child's learning experience and strengthen our school community.

We were not able to make this happen without your participation in PTA. Please join us to create a brighter and stronger future for our kids.

Get ready to dive into the Fall Pledge Drive and we’re thrilled to introduce three exciting tiers:

Retro Rockers Tier ($490 or more):

PTA Membership

Fall Pledge Donation for up to two students

TASAW donation for two teachers

Family recognition on the Alderwood Star and PTA website

Gift your registered students a Magic 8 Ball toy!

Cassette Crews Tier ($255 or more):

PTA Membership

Fall Pledge Donation per family

TASAW donation

Family recognition on the Alderwood Star and PTA website

Surprise your registered students with a Slinky toy!

Neon Nomads Tier – Spreading Good Vibes ($20 + donation):

PTA Membership

Any donations, all voluntary, will make you shine brightly in our community.

When you make a donation to the Fall Pledge Drive and your students are part of the Retro Rockers or Cassette Crews, they'll receive an exclusive invitation to our totally rad '80s-themed party. Plus, as a token of our appreciation, they'll also receive a fantastic prize.

Your support helps fund field trips, Outdoor Ed, and classroom materials. Our goal is to raise $45,000, with an even bigger target of $60,000. So far, we've reached $14,000. Becoming a PTA member grants you voting power, and our aim is to reach 300 members. Your support means the world to us. Currently, we have 158 members, so please consider joining the PTA.

International Night

We want to extend a big shoutout to the incredible parents who made International Night such a tremendous success. Your assistance and boundless enthusiasm truly made the event unforgettable, and we are deeply grateful for your contributions.

International Night was an overwhelming hit, and we sincerely hope that you and your families had an equally enjoyable time. The vibrant decorations and cultural ambiance you brought with you played a pivotal role in making the evening exceptionally special. We're thrilled to share that we had 28 countries represented, and over 500 people were in attendance, making it a truly global celebration.

For a visual recap of the event, we invite you to check out some pictures taken during the evening on our social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook @alderwoodpta).

Now, we have a small request to make. If you borrowed any decorations, such as flags or tablecloths, for the event, kindly return them to us. Simply drop them off at the front office, and we'll ensure that everything is organized and ready for future gatherings.

Share your original artwork in one of six exciting categories: Dance Choreography, Literature, Photography, Film Production, Music Composition, and Visual Arts. (You can enter multiple categories, but limit one entry per category.) We also have a Special Artist division for students with disabilities who receive services under IDEA or ADA.

Remember, all entries will be accepted online in electronic/digital format only. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Jane Albanez at reflections@alderwoodpta.com

Engaging in sports offers your child an excellent opportunity to cultivate teamwork, foster social skills, and stay physically active. What could be a more ideal means of achieving this than by practicing alongside their classmates and representing the school in a friendly tournament? We warmly invite individuals of all skill levels, whether they are beginners or experienced players, to join in the fun and camaraderie.
