Weekly Newsletter #15 - December 6, 2023
President's Corner

As the holiday season unfolds, it brings us closer in celebration and togetherness! Whether you celebrate or not, may this season be filled with happiness and cherished moments. Our diverse community shines brighter this season, highlighting our shared bonds and the beauty of our differences.

At Alderwood, we treasure the tapestry of traditions and cultures that enrich our identity. Each family adds a unique shade to our vibrant mosaic, representing unity. Join us for a special Meet the Board event on Friday, December 15th, at 8:00AM! It's a fantastic opportunity to connect with the current Board members and learn more about our school initiatives and events and how you can get involved.

We're looking for three more volunteers to join our team for the upcoming Jogathon! Your help is crucial, and your participation will make a big difference in making this event a success. If you're interested, please get in touch via email: volunteer@alderwoodpta.com

In celebration of the holiday season, students can enjoy shopping for their friends and family at our holiday boutique. It's a wonderful way to instill the spirit of giving in our children, and all proceeds will go to support the nonprofit Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF). Join us in assisting the students as they shop and check out presents for their loved ones and friends during boutique hours.

We are looking for volunteers to be part of the Nominating Committee for next year’s PTA Executive Board 2024-25.

The purpose of the Nominating Committee is to seek and identify qualified nominees for next year’s PTA Executive Board.  Each year, some Board members will term out of their positions (PTA bylaws allow volunteers to serve a maximum of 2 years in the same position) so the committee will help fill those.

Volunteers are needed to ensure nominees represent a diverse range of talents, perspectives and experiences.  Your role on Nominating Committee will include finding and interviewing potential candidates in January and February, and then recommending the new slate in March.

If you are interested in being a part of the Nominating Committee or if you have any questions, please email our Parliamentarian, Elizabeth Reilly, at parliamentarian@alderwoodpta.com
