The purpose of the Nominating Committee is to seek and identify qualified nominees for next year’s PTA Executive Board.  Each year, some Board members will term out of their positions (PTA bylaws allow volunteers to serve a maximum of 2 years in the same position) so the committee will help fill those.

Volunteers are needed to ensure nominees represent a diverse range of talents, perspectives and experiences.  Your role on Nominating Committee will include finding and interviewing potential candidates in January and February, and then recommending the new slate in March.

If you are interested in being a part of the Nominating Committee or if you have any questions, please email our Parliamentarian, Elizabeth Reilly, at parliamentarian@alderwoodpta.com

Volunteer Spotlight - Room Parent Coordinator

Shikha Kathuria is a Mom to two daughters, Anika (3rd grader) and Anya (1st grader). Her family joined Alderwood Elementary in August 2022, after spending 16 years in Chicago.

She is a native Californian who grew up in Fremont (Bay Area), and she is still relishing in the joy of being back in sunny and warm California! Shikha has eagerly immersed herself in our Alderwood Community since moving here, serving as Room Parent both school years, volunteering at various school events, classroom parties, field trips, etc. This year, she has taken on the additional role of Room Parent Coordinator and enjoys helping out wherever she can. Shikha is also Girl Scout Troop Co-Leader for Anya’s Girl Scout troop and a Troop Helper for Anika’s Girl Scout troop. Shikha is a Pediatric Dentist who, for the time being, has transitioned to full-time “Family Manager” and enjoys being actively involved with Alderwood, her children, and their extracurricular activities.

In her free time, Shikha enjoys going to barre, being outdoors and exercising, exploring new places in Orange County, and spending time with family and friends.
